menapause and bp

My blood pressure has been well controlled with med for 20 years all of a sudden my bp inches higher and higher I was recently told I was pre menopausal maybe this is why. Iv heard that there are few if any symptoms of elevated bp I personally feel pressure at the back of my scull and neck when it is high I sometimes feel like im in an elevator but there is no elevator this is when it is rising suddenly.
